PASSION AND TRADITION

Discover what makes us special

Arman & Arusyak from Armenia are the third restaurateurs to run the resturant which is said to be the oldest resturant business in Manchester being formed in 1968.

One of Manchester’s most beloved restaurants, Armenian Tavern has welcomed guests to enjoy its traditional Armenian food, warm hospitality, and unparalleled service for nearly five decades.

TASTE AND INNOVATION

Our chef

Chef Evangelos Takoulas  menu consists of mouth watering dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationship with its traditional home cooked food.

Head chef Evangelos has been cooking for over 24 years and has previously been the Sous Chef at hilton mylos, with his signature dish being with fish. Just like traditional Armenian food which is  “seasonal”, Evangelos uses the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, herbs and spices available at that time and locally sourced.

Our Specialities

ARMENIAN FOOD CHARACTERISTIC

Complicated Cooking Techniques

As Armenians we love dishes cooked over a barbeque mainly of meat, fish and vegetables.

The traditional cooking techniques we use can be very complicated as we put alot of time and effort into the preperation which involves, whipping, stuffing and making puree and adding our spices and greens.

Good food and hospitality!

We had a fabulous meal and the service was second to none. A lovely atmosphere in this Armenian restaurant

TRIP ADVISOR REVIEW

Amazing!

We had the most wonderful time here. The food was absolutely delicious, brilliant service and a very stylish interior. Well worth the drive from Liverpool, we look forward to the next visit

OUR SECRET

Spices & Greens

We use around 300 types of wild-growing greens and flowers, which are used for stuffing items seasonings or basic dishes.

The types of fragrant spices that we use while making our dishes, can be: black pepper, mint, pepper, basil, coriander, fenugreek, tarragon, thyme, onion and garlic. For sweet dishes, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron, vanilla and clove are mostly in use

Fantastic vegetarian food!

I have visited Armenian Taverna recently after the reopening. The new design is brilliant, they have also a grand piano, so expect some live music in the evenings. The food is as great as it always was or even better. I’ve ordered vegetarian roasted aubergine omelette, I believe it was one of the best lunch meals I had for a while.
